So the big question is do consumers want the iPad or the Kindle??!  In my opinion the iPad is a waste of money if you already have a Kindle… but what if you don’t??

Comscore surveyed  2,176 Internet users between March 12 and March 16. The takeaways:

• Apple’s iPad is boosting awareness for e-readers overall;
• However, only 37 percent of respondents said they were likely to read books on the device.
• Half of respondents said they would use the iPad for browsing the email.
• 36 percent said they would watch movies and video with 34 percent said they would read newspapers and magazines.

So what is the conclusion?  Well if Amazon wants to have any chance in the market it needs to drop the price of the kindle, maybe even offering a package where the Kindle is only $99 but you have to buy a certain number of books (or book credits) at the same time.  Otherwise, this will be an easy win for the internet enabled iPad.

I have noticed that both of these are common misspellings of the Amazon Kindle. It seems as if 12,000 people search for amazon kindel and another 10,000 search for Amazon Kindal some even search foro kindell. Of course it is actually spelled Kindle. If you happen to stumble on this blog do yourself a favor and go straight to amazon to buy the kindle. Rumors are abound that if you have an amazon visa card (or apply for one with amazon) and enter the coupon code VISACARD you can receive up to $100 off of a new kindle. Only $159 for a kindle sounds fantastic. I don’t know of any other Kindle coupon codes except for OPRAH2009 which was slated to expire at the end of 2009. Let me know if you have success with either, as I know Amazon coupon codes are hard to find.

Also — the thing that separates Kindle from other E-Readers is the fact that Kindles come with built in dictionaries that allow readers to easily look up words. A very nice feature. 

The only negative was that there was no built in back light which is good for tha battery life, but bad for reading at night.
